OSX Snow Leopard 2D Dock

One of the things I was not keen on with the 10.5 Leopard release of OSX is the new-look 3D dock. This was carried through to Snow Leopard, so customisation is needed…

This can be easily fixed in both versions of OSX so you end up with a dock, which I personally prefer, that looks like this:

To change the look of the original glassy-3D dock, you need to use an Application called Terminal. You can get at this from the Go menu in the Finder > Applications > Utilities > Terminal.

Type in defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES and hit the Return key.

Now type killall Dock and hit the Return key again.

That’s it. If you ever want to go back to the 3D dock, type NO instead of YES for the first line.
