Launchpad in OS X 10.7 Lion

It’s still early days for me using Lion, Day 2 to be precise, so I may yet change my mind on this…

I’m not really taking to one of the new top-billed features; Launchpad. It just feels like it has been ported over from iOS for the sake of it and doesn’t seem to be at home on a desktop. Side-scrolling through apps is pointless and slow. Trying to drag an app icon from one side of the screen onto an icon on the other is like a video game, catch it if you can!

I think I’ll just stick to the much quicker way of finding apps and utilities that are not in my Dock, using Spotlight:

Cmd + Spacebar > type a few letters from the app name > hit the Enter key. So much faster to launch…
