Using The New Gridify Feature in InDesign CS5

Adobe InDesign CS5 introduced a few new tools, one of which makes creating multiple frames on the page an absolute breeze. In fact, creating them, with equal spacing and setting the spacing all happens in a single go.

The tool (or perhaps more accurately, the technique) used involves the Frame tool and the arrow keys on the keyboard. The left/right arrows sub-divide the frame into columns and the up/down keys create rows. Here is a quick InDesign tutorial video showing how quick the process is.

Once you have frames created, you can use another new feature, the Gap tool, to resize your frames whilst keeping the spaces between the frames as they were originally. Furthermore, if you check the Auto-fit box (another new feature), any placed images will automatically resize as you drag and resize the containing frames.
