Au Revoir Adobe – Final Cut Studio vs Production Premium

It’s time for me to say goodbye to After Effects. I’m pretty saddened by Adobe’s upgrade path…

If I want to go from the CS4 web premium suite, using my After Effects and InDesign CS3 standalones to the CS4 Master Collection (just to get video and DVD packages), the best price Adobe can offer is over £900. They completely disregard the fact that I already own most of the bundled software (Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Fireworks, Soundbooth, Contribute and Bridge) which is surprisingly crap! No matter who I spoke to at Adobe they just weren’t interested in offering a better price to keep me on board. That really is a shame.

Apple’s Final Cut Studio packs tons of great stuff for £100 less. It has Final Cut Pro 7, Motion 4 , DVD Studio Pro, Color, Compressor and Soundtrack Pro. I love Final Cut (last used Adobe Premier Pro at version 7). Best of all, I know it works on my Mac and don’t have to go through waiting for the updates and less than impressive Adobe customer support to help when problems occur.

Anyone want to buy After Effects CS3 for Mac? With the Adobe classroom in a book and the box plus manual…
