At Haiz Design, I use several programs or applications in my work during the course of the average day designing and building websites and web pages. The main ones being:

• Photoshop
• Illustrator
• Dreamweaver
• TextMate
• Fireworks
• Flash

I also use Contribute and have local installations of WordPress and Magento for development and testing purposes.

For my desktop publishing, my preferred app is InDesign – by a mile, mainly due to the integration with the rest of the Adobe Creative Suite and the common interface all these apps share.

Each of these has a unique learning curve, so some hints and tips may be useful for people wanting a quick bit of help getting started. Most of these are quick tips rather than full-blown tutorials, but if you need more advice, contact me or search Google!

I work on a Mac but a lot of the information will be relevant for PC users too. There are however, some Mac OSX-specific tips.
