Coming from a Photoshop background, I am used to being able to quickly reselect the main Selection (V key) tool by holding the Cmd key. Not so in Fireworks it seems. If you are in the middle of using the Scale tool (Q key) on an object and want to select a new object to scale/transform, double-click outside of the canvas, click your new object then press the Q key again.

Having just had issues with Adobe Fireworks CS4 – specifically a slow interface and the keyboard object-nudging not working, I got help on the Adobe forum.
The solution was going to the following location and renaming the folder itself: Users\LibraryPreferencesAdobe Fireworks CS4
